NH Players Bet More Than $18.2 Million on Men’s and Women’s College Basketball Tournaments

Concord, NH – New Hampshire players placed nearly 502,000 bets totaling $18.2 million on the 2024 NCAA Men’s and Women’s College Basketball Tournaments. The Tournaments concluded Monday, April 8, with the University of Connecticut men’s team defeating Purdue University and the University of South Carolina women’s team beating the University of Iowa. The total number of wagers placed on the two tournaments increased by more than 18% year-over-year, with the total handle increasing by nearly 2% year-over-year.

The New Hampshire Lottery experienced significant growth in wagering on the NCAA Women’s College Basketball Tournament. Players wagered more than $2 million on the women’s tournament this year, an increase of 252.7%, or $1.5 million, compared to last year. Players also placed more than 53,300 wagers on the women’s tournament, marking a 285% year-over-year increase.

“As our largest sports betting driver each year, we had high expectations for both the men’s and women’s tournaments, and it is safe to say they did not disappoint,” said Charlie McIntyre, Executive Director, New Hampshire Lottery. “We were thrilled to see that players wagered more than $18.2 million on this year’s tournaments and even more excited to see the increased interest in the women’s tournament, supporting our mission in generating critical revenue for public education across the state.
