Trick or $1 Billion Treat? NH Lottery Projecting Tonight’s Halloween Powerball Jackpot Will Reach $1 Billion

10/31/2022

Concord, NH – There is nothing spooky about it as the New Hampshire Lottery expects tonight’s Halloween Powerball jackpot to reach $1 billion, which would be just the fifth time a jackpot has reached $1 billion. The New Hampshire Lottery is projecting the one-time cash payout to be $497.3 million. The $1 billion jackpot would be the fifth-largest jackpot in history and the second-largest Powerball jackpot. (Estimated jackpot amounts are determined before taxes are withheld.)

“The excitement in the air tonight isn’t just because of all the candy, but also because there is now $1 billion at stake! We could not be happier for our New Hampshire players who now have a chance to win the ultimate treat—one of the top-five lottery jackpots in history,” said Charlie McIntyre, Executive Director, New Hampshire Lottery. “With Powerball sales reaching almost $3 million last week alone, we anticipate continued brisk sales right up until the drawing tonight. Make sure you grab your ‘pick of the patch’ before tonight’s drawing!”

NH iLottery sold a $50,000 winning Powerball ticket for the drawing on Saturday, October 29.

Powerball drawing results from Saturday, October 29, were: 19-31-40-46-57 PB-23 with a Power Play of 3.

Tonight’s Halloween drawing will be the 38th Powerball drawing since the jackpot was last won on August 3 in Pennsylvania, when a lucky player purchased a $206.9 million winning ticket.

The Powerball jackpot reached $1.586 billion in January 2016, marking not only the largest Powerball jackpot on record but also the largest lottery jackpot in history. The jackpot was split between three winners in Florida, California and Tennessee.
