Friday’s Estimated $900 Million Mega Millions Jackpot Would be Largest Mega Millions Jackpot on Record

The New Hampshire Mega Millions jackpot is projected to climb to $900 million for Friday’s drawing, which would make it the largest Mega Millions jackpot on record and the second-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. The one-time cash payout is expected to increase to $513.4 million. (Estimated jackpot amounts are determined before taxes are withheld.)

“With the opportunity to win an astounding $900 million, everywhere you go, people are talking about Mega Millions. You can feel the buzz in the air,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director, New Hampshire Lottery. “With this record-setting jackpot, our retailers reporting strong sales, and we expect the Mega Millions sales action to continue to increase right up to Friday’s drawing. Remember, you have to play to win!”

The Mega Millions drawing results from Tuesday, October 16, were: 3-45-49-61-69 MB-9 with a Megaplier of 5.

The top-five largest lottery jackpots on record are:

1. $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot – January 2016
2. $900 million Mega Millions jackpot – October 2018 (anticipated)
3. $758.7 million Powerball jackpot – August 2017
4. $656 million Mega Millions jackpot – March 2012
5. $648 million Mega Millions jackpot – December 2013

This estimated $900 million Mega Millions jackpot has been growing since July 24, when an 11-member office pool in California won a $543 million jackpot.

Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM and tickets are on sale until 9:50 PM Friday. Tickets are on sale at more than 1,400 retailers statewide, as well as through the New Hampshire Lottery’s new online platform, iLottery.
