New Hampshire Lottery Launches ‘Tiny House, Big Money’ Scratch Ticket Game

1/13/2017

CONCORD, N.H. – As part of a special partnership with the New Hampshire Home Builders Association (NHHBA), the New Hampshire Lottery recently launched a brand new $2 scratch game, “Tiny House, Big Money,” featuring the chance to win a $10,000 grand prize and a second-chance drawing opportunity to win a custom-made tiny house. The new game highlights Tiny House New Hampshire, a unique workforce development initiative in which students at four high schools across the state are designing and building “tiny houses.” The second-chance prize will be one of the student-built tiny houses. Tiny House, Big Money went on sale Monday, January 2.

“The New Hampshire Lottery is proud to offer Tiny House, Big Money to our players,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “This new game really showcases this important, hands-on initiative giving more than 100 students across the state the chance to develop critical skills as they work to overcome obstacles and challenges, just as they would in the real world. We know our players will love having the chance to win a tiny house and having the opportunity to support this exciting and valuable workforce development initiative.”

NHHBA is sourcing all materials for the program and is seeking financial and material donations. In particular from their local communities, schools are in need of siding and roofing materials, as well as RV-size appliances. NHHBA expects it to take about 550 hours for students to complete the homes, with a budget of $15,000 to $20,000 for each house. NHHBA members are serving as mentors to participating students.

“The New Hampshire Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders have had a long history of engaging our future home builders in unique projects. With skilled trade labor in shortage nationwide, there has never been a better time to engage in initiatives that stimulate workforce development," said Todd Mezzanotte, Associate National Director, New Hampshire Home Builders Association.  "A number of our local trade schools have embraced this project from their administrations right down to their students. It's exciting to see the progress, the sense of ownership in their work, and how the community has come together to ensure they have the guidance and support to be successful in their efforts. It's a great way to start off a career in construction and we are all looking forward to seeing their results displayed at the 2017 State Home Show."

As part of the partnership with NHHBA, the New Hampshire Lottery provided funding to purchase custom trailers to serve as foundations for the tiny houses. All student-built homes will be displayed during the 50th New Hampshire State Home Show from March 17 to March 19 at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester. A panel of judges will choose the first-place tiny house, which will be awarded to the winner of the Tiny House, Big Money second-chance drawing. Four of the five homes will be raffled or auctioned during the Home Show, with proceeds benefiting participating schools and NHHBA.
Tiny houses, which typically span 100- to 400-square-feet, have become increasingly popular in recent years as people have sought to “downsize” living spaces, according to thetinylife.com.

Students from Alvirne High School in Hudson, the Huot Technical Center in Laconia, Kennett High School in North Conway, and the Seacoast School of Technology in Exeter are building a total of five tiny houses.

“The experience has been great. Building the tiny house is more challenging than a part-time carpentry job,” said Brian Covey, a participating student from Alvirne High School. “You can’t always go off the plan. You have to be prepared to work around it.”

As of last month, students at Alvirne High School had nearly completed framing and are working on roof rafters.
“It’s going great. It has been a learning curve for me as well as the students,” said Matt Somers, building trades teacher at Alvirne High School. “I want to make sure that students have a clear understanding of the entire process from start to finish of a build.”

The pace of construction is picking up at the Seacoast School of Technology, said James Klingensmith, building construction technologies instructor at the Seacoast School of Technology, which is building two tiny houses with both first- and second-year building construction technologies students. All outer walls have been built, most interior walls are completed, and students are almost finished framing the roofs.

“The students are getting to see something more than a dog house or shed. These houses contain almost every component of a standard home,” Klingensmith said. “If there is one big advantage over doing a standard house is that students get to see the fruits of their labor much quicker since these do not take as long to build.”

John Ewing, a junior at the Seacoast School of Technology, said he is excited about building a tiny house because he wants to build one for himself when he graduates.

“Students have been excited from the beginning,” Ewing said. “It’s been a great learning experience.”

Students at Huot Technical Center are currently working on rough electrical work, preparing the roof and getting ready to perform interior updates, including staining, wood finishing and preparation for wood floors.

“As a teacher, this project has been a phenomenal opportunity to address real world building situations,” said Matt Towle, building construction teacher at Huot Technical Center. “Typically we work on sheds which do not require wiring or rough plumbing as this tiny house project does. I’ve been able to see different students naturally finding their leadership comfort and reaching that ‘ah-ha’ moment at different stages throughout the project which I haven’t seen often with past projects. It’s been both challenging and rewarding and I hope I have the opportunity to work on a project like this again with classes to follow.”

At Kennett High School, students have completed all walls and are working on windows and shingling the roof.
“This build has been enjoyable and it is great to see students taking ownership with something so big,” said Paul Cail, building trades teacher at Kennett High School. “Students are loving this project and I feel it has been a huge success. Students are learning everything one would use in building a house. There is pride in their work and I am very proud that they are stepping up to the plate with this project.”

In addition to the New Hampshire Lottery, partner organizations include Dead River Company, Harvey Building Products, Selectwood, and Builders Installed Products.

Northfield Resident Wins $2 Million ‘Granite Giveaway’ Top Prize

1/12/2017

CONCORD, N.H. – Northfield resident Stacey Partridge is the New Hampshire Lottery’s newest millionaire as she claimed the last $2 million instant top prize in the “$30 Million Granite Giveaway” scratch game on Wednesday, January 11. Partridge, who bought her ticket at the Park-N-Go Market at 135 Park St. in Northfield, had the option of taking home $66,666 per year for 30 years or a one-time cash payout of $1.35 million. (Prize amounts are estimated before taxes.) The $30 Million Granite Giveaway game costs $25 per ticket.

After seeking legal and financial advice, Partridge selected the one-time cash option. A long-time player, Partridge, 44, has a 16-year-old son and has lived in the Northfield area her entire life. She works for the family construction business and intends to continue working. Her routine is to buy a few scratch tickets and scratch them in her truck in the parking lot. As she scratched that ticket earlier this week, she had to go back inside Park-N-Go Market to make sure she was reading her prize correctly, she said.

“This is what it is all about, seeing a player who enjoys our scratch tickets rewarded with a huge $2 million win,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “This is an exciting moment for the New Hampshire Lottery and we are thrilled to congratulate Stacey Partridge as New Hampshire’s newest millionaire. We wish her all the best!”

“It feels like it’s not quite real yet,” Partridge said. “It probably will not seem real until I check my bank account balance on my phone after the prize money arrives. It’s still so surreal.”

Partridge indicated she has no immediate plans for the prize money, though she mentioned perhaps getting a new dog and paying for training for her horse.

The $30 Million Granite Giveaway game, which boasts more than $30 million in cash prizes, features four chances to win up to $2 million. Players can win three of the four top prizes of $2 million instantly. Partridge won the third and last instant $2 million top prize.

The fourth $2 million winner will be selected through a second-chance drawing open to $30 Million Granite Giveaway players who win and claim the $1,000 or $2,500 prizes from the game. During the second-chance drawing, which will take place during the summer of 2018, players will hope to get lucky and win that final $2 million prize, along with four $10,000 prizes to be awarded during the drawing.

Partridge told New Hampshire Lottery officials she has been successful with the $30 Million Granite Giveaway game. In fact, she collected a $1,000 prize in the Granite Giveaway game just last week at New Hampshire Lottery headquarters. As a $1,000 winner, Partridge will be among the players at the second-chance drawing hoping to be a finalist for a second chance to win the final $2 million top prize.

When the last top prize in a game is claimed, the New Hampshire Lottery removes the game from sale. The New Hampshire Lottery will continue selling $30 Million Granite Giveaway through April 2017, as there are still considerable opportunities to win. As of this week, there were 79 chances to win prizes of $1,000 and $2,500 remaining, 30 more chances to win $10,000, and two more chances to win $50,000 still available—coupled with the $2 million second-chance drawing opportunity. When the game launched, there were a total of 85 prizes of $2,500 and 950 prizes of $1,000.

“This is a unique situation,” McIntyre said. “With $2 million at stake and almost 80 chances still to win $1,000 or $2,500 and to be entered into the second-chance drawing for $2 million, we want to give as many players as possible a chance to win!”

The $30 Million Granite Giveaway game launched in October 2015. The two previous $2 million top prize winners were Thomas Mix of Union in November 2015 and Mark Washburn of Ossipee in April 2016.

Launched on May 31, 2016, the $5 Big Money scratch ticket initially featured more than $1 million in prizes ranging from $5 to $100,000. In addition to the three outstanding $100,000 winning tickets, there are still 19 winning tickets worth $1,000 waiting to be claimed.

“With just 4-percent of Big Money scratch tickets still available for purchase, now is the time to buy as the game is on the verge of selling out,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “Where are these golden winning tickets? We cannot wait to meet our three remaining $100,000 winners!”

New Hampshire Lottery Recognizes 25 Years of Powerball

5/3/2017

Concord, N.H. – Highlighted by more than $821 million in total sales and 10 lucky jackpot winners, the New Hampshire Lottery recognized the 25th anniversary of Powerball last month. Powerball game sales began nationally on April 19, 1992 and the first drawing was held on April 22, 1992. The New Hampshire Lottery began selling Powerball tickets 22 years ago, with the first New Hampshire Powerball drawing taking place on November 8, 1995.

“We have had some incredibly exciting Powerball moments over the years with a New Hampshire player winning a $487 million jackpot last July and that all-time record jackpot of nearly $1.6 billion in January 2016,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “We are thrilled to highlight the 25th anniversary of Powerball in New Hampshire. With huge jackpots, multiple chances to win, and more than $821 million in total sales, Powerball has been a resounding success in New Hampshire, helping us deliver millions to support education in the Granite State.”

New Hampshire Powerball sales have totaled $821 million, rising from $25.5 million in the first year to $45.5 million last fiscal year. With sales tied directly to the size of jackpots, the New Hampshire Lottery reached a record high of $57.2 million in Powerball sales in 2006.

With the Powerball jackpot climbing to unprecedented heights in January 2016, the New Hampshire Lottery’s billboards and jackpot signs were pushed to the max. Never before experiencing a jackpot as large, signage was stuck at $999 million even as the jackpot exceeded $1 billion. That jackpot was ultimately split between winners in California, Tennessee and Florida.

Just last summer, New Hampshire’s largest prize winner to date claimed a $487 million winning Powerball ticket sold at the Hannaford Supermarket in Raymond. Choosing to remain anonymous, the winner claimed the prize through a trust.

Powerball has evolved considerably since its inception. When the game launched in 1992, the starting jackpot was $2 million and 15 lotteries offered Powerball. Today, the starting jackpot is $40 million and 47 lotteries across the country offer Powerball to players. Nationally, Powerball has awarded more than 2,000 new millionaires over the past five years alone.

New Hampshire’s 10 Powerball jackpot winners include:

  1.  Dean Leighton of Chester, New Hampshire won $51 million (annuitized) on March 30, 1996. The winning ticket was sold at Sandy’s Variety in Manchester.

5/22/2017

CONCORD, N.H. – New Hampshire Lottery “Spokesman” Chuck McLuck will “dive” into a swimming pool to choose 11 grand prize finalists for the $2,000 A Week for Life game on Thursday, May 25. New Hampshire Lottery players submitted non-winning $2,000 A Week for Life scratch tickets for a second-chance drawing to win up to $2.6 million—the equivalent of $2,000 per week for 25 years. With more than 100,000 entries and without a receptacle large enough to hold them, the New Hampshire Lottery brought in a pool—and Chuck—to handle the preliminary drawing.
The special drawing event will take place from 11 AM to 1 PM at New Hampshire Lottery Headquarters, 14 Integra Drive in Concord. The public and New Hampshire Lottery players are encouraged to attend.
“The New Hampshire Lottery is all about fun and winning, and this special drawing event is a perfect opportunity for players to have a great time,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “With thousands of entries for this $2,000 A Week for Life preliminary second-chance drawing, clearly our players are excited to have another chance at winning the $2.6 million grand prize. We cannot wait to meet our lucky finalists.”
Chuck McLuck has become a popular character starring in a number of New Hampshire Lottery videos in his quest to determine what makes New Hampshire the “luckiest place on earth.” Click here for Chuck’s video illustrating the benefits of playing the lottery in New Hampshire versus Massachusetts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lWSLVz3p2E
The 11 finalists chosen by Chuck will take part in the final drawing at a time, date and place to be determined. The grand prize winner will have the option of taking home $2,000 per week for 25 years or accepting a one-time cash payout of $1 million. (Prize amounts are calculated before taxes.)
In addition to the grand prize, the final drawing will feature prizes ranging from $2,500 to $50,000. The $2,000 A Week for Life game, which cost $20 per play, launched in November 2014 and offered a total of $14.7 million in prizes.
During the event, the New Hampshire Lottery will be running a promotion for the $25 Granite State Gold Scratch Ticket with a variety of giveaways available. In addition, Miss Polly’s Traveling Treats of Concord will offer free ice cream and donuts. Chuck McLuck will also be available for photos.

New Hampshire Powerball Jackpot Expected to Reach $430 Million for Wednesday’s Drawing

8/14/2017

CONCORD, N.H. – With no winner in this past Saturday’s drawing, the New Hampshire Powerball jackpot is expected to reach $430 million for Wednesday’s drawing, which would be the ninth largest jackpot in Powerball history. The New Hampshire Lottery is expecting the one-time cash payout to increase to $273.4 million for Wednesday’s drawing. (Estimated jackpot amounts are before taxes).

“At $430 million, this is already the third time this year the New Hampshire Powerball jackpot has exceeded $400 million—and the second time in the last two months,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “When Powerball jackpots reach the $400 million threshold, the excitement really amps up and intensifies for our players and retailers. I can think of $430 million reasons to get your tickets now for Wednesday’s drawing—let’s have another big New Hampshire winner!”

With no winner in the Powerball drawing on Saturday, August 12, the Powerball jackpot has been growing since June 10, when a California player claimed a $447.8 million jackpot.

The Powerball drawing results from August 12 were: 20-24-26-35-49 PB-19 with a Power Play of 2.

New Hampshire has had 10 Powerball jackpot winners since Powerball launched in the Granite State 22 years ago. Just last summer, a New Hampshire player, who chose to remain anonymous, claimed a $487 million winning Powerball ticket sold at the Hannaford Supermarket in Raymond. The all-time record Powerball jackpot was a $1.6 billion jackpot from January 2016.

Powerball drawings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11:00 PM. Powerball tickets are on sale at more than 1,250 retailers in New Hampshire until 9:50 p.m. Saturday.

Saturday’s New Hampshire Powerball Jackpot Expected to Soar to $510 Million

8/17/2017

CONCORD, N.H. – The New Hampshire Powerball jackpot is expected to reach more than half-a-billion-dollars for Saturday’s drawing. At a projected $510 million, Saturday’s Powerball jackpot would be the fifth largest Powerball jackpot on record and the largest jackpot since the unprecedented $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot of January 2016. The New Hampshire Lottery is expecting the one-time cash payout to increase to $324.2 million for Saturday’s drawing. (Estimated jackpot amounts are before taxes).

“The last time the New Hampshire Powerball jackpot exceeded the half-a-billion-dollar mark, we were in the middle of a historic run culminating with a world-record nearly $1.6 billion jackpot,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “While it would certainly be thrilling for history to repeat, nothing would make me happier than to have another big New Hampshire winner in Saturday’s drawing. Retailers are reporting strong sales and our players love the Powerball fever. I want to say good luck to all the loyal New Hampshire Lottery players.”

The Powerball drawing results from August 16 were: 9-15-43-60-64 PB-4 with a Power Play of 3.

While no one won Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot, a $50,000 winning Powerball ticket was sold at the Market Basket on Plaistow Road in Plaistow for Wednesday’s drawing.

New Hampshire has had 10 Powerball jackpot winners since Powerball launched in the Granite State 22 years ago, including a $487 million winner just last summer. That lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket at the Hannaford Supermarket in Raymond.

The current Powerball jackpot has been climbing since June 10, when a California player claimed a $447.8 million jackpot.

Powerball drawings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11:00 PM and tickets are on sale at more than 1,250 retailers in New Hampshire until 9:50 p.m. Saturday.

New Hampshire Powerball Jackpot Skyrockets to $700 Million; Second-Largest Jackpot on Record

8/22/2017

The New Hampshire Lottery is projecting Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot will reach $700 million—making it the second-largest jackpot on record. At $700 million, the jackpot would be second only to the $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot of January 2016. The New Hampshire Lottery is expecting the one-time cash payout to increase to $443.3 million for tomorrow’s drawing. (Estimated jackpot amounts are before taxes).

“Sometimes all you can say is ‘wow’ and with a historic $700 million Powerball jackpot for tomorrow’s drawing, ‘wow’ is beyond appropriate!” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “These are the types of moments we live for at the New Hampshire Lottery—our players and retailers love the Powerball fever. Both sales and excitement are at extraordinary levels. Now is the time to get in on the action!”

Just last summer, a lucky New Hampshire player became the largest jackpot winner in New Hampshire history after purchasing a $487 million winning Powerball ticket at the Hannaford Supermarket in Raymond.

The top-10 largest Powerball jackpots were:
  1. $1.6 billion – January 2016
  2. $700 million (projected) – August 2017
  3. $590.5 million – May 2013
  4. $587.5 million – November 2012
  5. $564.1 million – February 2015
  6. $487 million – July 2016 (NH winner)
  7. $448.4 million – August 2013
  8. $435.3 million – February 2017
  9. $435 million – June 2017
  10. $429.6 million – May 2016
The Powerball drawing results from August 19 were: 17-19-39-43-68 PB-13 with a Power Play of 4.

The current Powerball jackpot has been on the rise all summer since June 10, when a California player claimed a $447.8 million jackpot. Since Powerball launched in New Hampshire 22 years ago, the Granite State has had 10 Powerball jackpot winners.

Powerball drawings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11:00 PM and tickets are on sale at more than 1,250 retailers in New Hampshire until 9:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Robert Kraft and New Hampshire Lottery Launch 2017 New England Patriots Scratch Ticket Game

8/28/2017

CONCORD, N.H. – With the defending champion New England Patriots preparing to kick off the 2017 season next week, Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft joined the New Hampshire Lottery and Governor Chris Sununu to launch the 2017 New England Patriots $5 Scratch Ticket today at the Statehouse. Featuring the chance to win up to $100,000, the 2017 New England Patriots $5 Scratch Ticket has become one of the best-selling scratch ticket games in New Hampshire Lottery history. This is the sixth consecutive year the New Hampshire Lottery has offered the Patriots scratch ticket.

“We appreciate all the support our fans in New Hampshire give the New England Patriots,” said Kraft. “We are proud that the partnership with the New Hampshire Lottery has been so successful for the state each of the last five years and hope it will continue for years to come. I will always have an affinity for the Granite State, as I built my first plant in Dover, New Hampshire in the 1960s and have been doing business in the state ever since.”

The $5 Patriots Scratch Ticket went on sale statewide on Tuesday, Aug. 29. Along with four $100,000 grand prizes, the game features the opportunity to enter a series of second-chance drawings to win Patriots game day ticket packages. Other cash prizes range from $5 to $1,000. The New Hampshire Lottery first offered a New England Patriots-themed scratch ticket in 2012.

“Every kid should have the chance to be a champion, and there is nobody who knows how to be a champion better than the New England Patriots,” said Governor Chris Sununu. “I am excited to see the partnership between the New Hampshire Lottery and the New England Patriots continue and I am looking forward to seeing it succeed once again so that New Hampshire’s schools can thrive, ensuring every child has a chance to succeed.”

As part of the ticket announcement today, the New England Patriots hosted a mini-training camp for 100 football players from the Merrimack Cardinals Youth Football League. Patriots alumni led the training camp. In addition, 25 Merrimack youth cheerleaders had the chance to participate with two New England Patriots cheerleaders as well.

“The New Hampshire Lottery is all about winning and nobody knows more about winning than the defending champion New England Patriots—that’s why this partnership is a perfect match,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “Our loyal customers are devoted to the Patriots and they love playing the New England Patriots $5 Scratch Ticket, which offers four chances to win up to $100,000. With the football season about to kick off, the New Hampshire Lottery wants to wish the New England Patriots good luck this season.”

NH Hot Lotto Announcement

NH Hot Lotto Announcement

After distributing more than $24 million in prizes over the last 14 years to New Hampshire Lottery players, NH Hot Lotto is coming to an end Saturday, October 28, with the game’s final drawing. This will be your last chance to win!

With Hot Lotto ending, the New Hampshire Lottery will be transitioning to a new draw game: $1 Lotto America. While Lotto America will not be available for sale in New Hampshire until February 2018, Lotto America’s first drawing will take place Wednesday, November 15, as the game will be on sale in 13 other lotteries.*

The jackpot prize for Lotto America will start at $2 million.

In the event no one wins the Hot Lotto prize by the final drawing in October 28, any prize funds remaining from the Hot Lotto game would roll forward into the Lotto America game, and the Lotto America jackpot would be increased to $15 million for its first drawing.

With New Hampshire joining the game in February 2018, New Hampshire’s portion of the Hot Lotto jackpot would not be added to the Lotto America jackpot until the New Hampshire Lottery ticket sales begin.

New Hampshire Powerball Jackpot Soars to $337 Million for Wednesday Night’s Drawing

12/26/2017

CONCORD, N.H. – Christmas came and went with no Powerball winner but New Hampshire Lottery players still have a chance to win big before the New Year with a $337 million Powerball jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing. The New Hampshire Lottery is expecting the one-time Powerball cash payout to be $210.4 million for Wednesday’s drawing. (Estimated jackpot amounts are before taxes).

“With just a few days left in 2017, the New Hampshire Lottery would like nothing more than to close out the year announcing another Powerball winner from the Granite State!” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “It was just last year when one of our lucky players took home the $487 million Powerball prize. The excitement is building for another big winner!”

New Hampshire has had 10 Powerball jackpot winners since Powerball launched in the Granite State 22 years ago, including the $487 million winner last year.

The current Powerball jackpot has been climbing since October 25, when a Louisiana player claimed a $191 million jackpot. The largest Powerball jackpot on record was a $1.586 billion jackpot in January 2016.

The Powerball drawing results from Saturday, December 23, were: 1-13-3-15-44 PB-25 with a Power Play of 2.

Powerball drawings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11:00 PM and tickets are on sale at more than 1,250 retailers in New Hampshire until 9:50 p.m. Wednesday.

About New Hampshire Lottery

For the past 53 years, the New Hampshire Lottery has recorded more than $6.3 billion in lottery sales and other earnings, with over $4.2 billion paid in prizes and other cost of sales. Net proceeds to education total nearly $1.9 billion to date.

The New Hampshire Lottery Commission, located at 14 Integra Drive in Concord, currently manages all lottery operations in the state, including instant games, New Hampshire Powerball®, New Hampshire Mega Millions®, Tri-State Megabucks Plus, Tri-State Pick3®/Pick4® Daily Numbers games, Gimme 5, Fast Play games, Lucky For Life® and KENO 603.

Dueling Powerball and Mega Millions Jackpots Rise to Nearly $700 Million Combined

12/28/2017

CONCORD, N.H. – The New Hampshire Lottery is projecting that dueling Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots will rise to a combined almost $700 million for drawings over the next two days. The Mega Millions jackpot for tomorrow night’s (12/29) drawing is expected to increase to $306 million, with a one-time cash payout of $191.1 million. The Powerball jackpot for Saturday’s drawing (12/30) is expected to reach $384 million with a one-time cash payout of $239.7 million. (Estimated jackpot amounts are before taxes).

“The excitement for our players and retailers really starts to amp up whenever we have a single jackpot that reaches the $300 million mark. But with dueling jackpots combining to reach more almost $700 million, the excitement is downright palpable,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “Retailers are already reporting major sales increases. With the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots both exceeding $300 million, our players have two tremendous opportunities to ring in the New Year as New Hampshire’s newest multimillionaires.”

The Powerball drawing results from Wednesday, December 27, were: 3-9-16-56-60 PB-3 with a Power Play of 3.

The Mega Millions drawing results from Tuesday, December 26, were: 10-12-20-38-41 MB-25 with a Megaplier of 4.

The current Powerball jackpot has been on the rise since October 25, when a Louisiana player claimed a $191 million jackpot. The current Mega Millions jackpot has been increasing since players in Rhode Island and Michigan split the $43 million jackpot for the October 13 drawing.

A Combined $801 Million Up For Grabs in Dueling Powerball and Mega Millions Jackpots

1/2/2018

CONCORD, N.H. – Lottery players are starting off the New Year with one goal in mind – winning a combined $801 million in Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots. With no winner from Friday’s Mega Millions game, the grand prize for tonight’s drawing is estimated to reach $361 million – the eighth-largest jackpot in the game’s history. With Saturday’s Powerball drawing also not yielding a winner, Wednesday’s jackpot will become the ninth-largest in Powerball history, reaching $440 million.

“While much of the United States is blanketed in record-breaking cold temperatures, the Powerball and Mega Millions action is really getting heated up. We have more than three-quarters of a billion dollars up for grabs in the next 24 hours, starting with tonight’s Mega Millions drawing,” said Charlie McIntyre, Powerball Product Group Chairman and New Hampshire Lottery Executive Director. “Combined, this would be the second-largest jackpot in history and only the second time Powerball and Mega Millions have simultaneously had jackpots larger than $300 million. Our players across the country have two exciting opportunities to start the New Year as multimillionaires.”

“It’s been almost two years since the world-record $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot was hit in January 2016,” said Gordon Medenica, Mega Millions Lead Director and Maryland Lottery and Gaming Director. “Wouldn’t it be great to see these two games continue to roll and give lottery players another record-breaker for the New Year?”

The Mega Millions jackpot for tonight’s (Jan. 2) drawing is estimated to be $361 million, with a one-time cash payout of $215.3 million. The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing (Jan. 3) is expected to be $440 million with a one-time cash payout of $278.3 million. (Estimated jackpot amounts are before taxes).

Powerball and Mega Millions Jackpots Approach $1 Billion

1/4/2018

CONCORD, N.H. – With no winner in last night’s Powerball drawing, nearly a billion dollars awaits a lucky winner or winners over the next two days in combined Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots. The New Hampshire Lottery is announcing that the Mega Millions jackpot has increased to $445 million for tomorrow night’s drawing and the Powerball jackpot is estimated to be $550 million for Saturday’s drawing—presenting New Hampshire players with a nearly unparalleled opportunity to win $995 million dollars.

“It’s a billion dollar money cyclone!” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “The Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots are reaching unprecedented levels—only the record $1.56 billion Powerball jackpot of January 2016 beats the current combined total. With snow, wind and cold outside, these large, very large jackpots have our players thinking of all the ways they could spend those dollars. There’s still plenty of time to purchase tickets for Powerball and Mega Millions drawings over the next two days.”

With a $445 million Mega Millions jackpot, the fourth-largest Mega Millions jackpot in history, anticipated for tomorrow night’s (Jan. 5) drawing, the one-time cash payout is expected to reach $277.6 million.

The Powerball jackpot is expected to be $550 million, the sixth-largest Powerball jackpot on record, for Saturday’s (Jan. 6) drawing. The one-time cash payout is expected to be $347.9 million. (Estimated jackpot amounts are before taxes).

Reeds Ferry Market in Merrimack, NH Sells Winning $559.7 million Powerball Ticket

1/7/2018

CONCORD, N.H. – A $559.7 million winning Powerball ticket was sold at the Reeds Ferry Market at 601 Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack, NH for last night’s drawing—this marks New Hampshire’s second Powerball jackpot winner in the past year and a half. The $559.7 million jackpot is the sixth-largest Powerball jackpot on record and the seventh-largest jackpot overall.

“We cannot even describe our excitement right now at having a $559.7 million Powerball jackpot winner! To have two massive Powerball winners in a year and a half is incredibly thrilling,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “We are looking forward to meeting New Hampshire’s latest big winner—someone woke up a multimillionaire this morning!”

On July 30, 2016 a New Hampshire player—who chose to remain anonymous—won a $487 million winning Powerball ticket sold at the Hannaford Supermarket in Raymond.

“This is an extraordinary moment for the New Hampshire Lottery and for Reeds Ferry Market in Merrimack,” said Debra Douglas, chairman of the New Hampshire Lottery Commission. “Over the past two years, the New Hampshire Lottery has proudly awarded more than $1 billion in prizes to New Hampshire players. Further, of the top-10 Powerball jackpots in history, New Hampshire players have now won two.”

The Powerball drawing results from last night (Jan. 6) were: 12-29-30-33-61 PB-26 with a Power Play of 3.

The Powerball jackpot for Saturday reached an estimated annuitized $559.7 million with an estimated cash value of $358.5 million.

Two options are available to the winner, taking a lump-sum cash option of approximately $358.5 million or the option of an annuity payment over 30 years. The annuity payment offers a graduated plan that increases each year. An estimated $8 million payment would be made the first year and the final payment would be an estimated $34 million. Both prizes are estimated before taxes.

Reed’s Ferry Market will receive $75,000 for selling the winning ticket.

“Winning such an incredible amount of money is truly life-changing, but before the winner begins making plans to buy an expensive yacht or a mansion, I would encourage him or her to take a moment to process what winning this prize means,” McIntyre continued.

McIntyre, who has administered hundreds of millions of dollars in winning prizes during his career, offered several tips for the winner’s consideration:
  • Sign the ticket—the New Hampshire Lottery only pays the person who signs the back of the ticket.
  •
  • Talk to a lawyer—an attorney can provide strategic guidance.
  •
  • Meet with a financial professional—someone experienced working with large sums of money.
  •
  • Plan first; then claim your prize. There is no need to rush—the winner has a full year to claim the prize. Think about what you want to do with the money.

Including last night’s winning ticket, New Hampshire has now had 11 Powerball jackpot winners since New Hampshire joined the game in 1995:
